On 3 June, Mr. Thongloun Sisoulith, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs received in Vientiane Capital Mr. Philip Malone Ambassadors of UK to Laos to bid farewell at the end of their diplomatic mission in Laos.
During the separate meetings, Mr. Thongloun expressed his pleasure with the diplomatic missions of the ambassadors and was certain that the ambassador would continue to broaden the relations of friendship and co-operation between Laos and UK.
During his mission in Laos, British Ambassador Philip Malone has actively worked to mobilize a number of assistance programmes worth about US$5 million to help the UXO sector of Laos through MAG and the HALO Trust.
In the educational sector, Lao students received two Chevening scholarship in 2014 and 9 Chevening scholarships in 2015. In addition, the British government helped to encourage and support the Lao government in sending its delegation to take part at international meetings including the world educational meeting.
